Zealand Pre» AeeoctaUan)
AUCKLAND. Some golfers were deliberately aiming balls at greenkeepers who were mowing a fairway to “hurry them up," labourers* union delegates were told yesterday. The delegates, who were attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Labourers’ Association, were concerned that golf elubs refused to provide safety frames on tractors. Mr W. J. Skinner (Auckland) told of injuries green-
keepers had suffered when they bad been struck by flying golf balls. Only one club In Auckland had fitted a tractor with a frame to protect a greenkeeper. He had been told by the clubs that while tractors were being used there were few players on the courses and it was not considered that the greenkeepers were In any danger. “Most of the golf committees are apathetic,” he said. No action was taken by the association.
