Situation.—An anticyclone covering the eastern Tasman Sea and New Zealand is moving quickly eastwards; a cold front is moving on to the south-west Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury.—Freshening winds from the northerly quarter; becoming cloudy with some rain in the Alps this afternoon; little change in temperatures. Marlborough Sounds and Kaikoura coast. —Moderate north-west winds; fine; rising day temperatures. Central Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate north-easterlies; fine; rising temperatures but increasing high cloud. Buller and north Westland.—Moderate north-easterlies; cloudy; a few scattered patches of light rain, mostly qn the hills; moderate temperatures. South Westland. —Northerly winds, fresh in exposed places; cloudy; rain developing; moderate temperatures. Outlook.—Unsettled in Buller and Westland; scattered rain elsewhere. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
