Scout Merit Awards
Mrs J. Hinman, who has been secretary and cub leader of the St Matthew’s Lady Liverpool's Own Scout Group for 20 years, as well as being active in the wider field of scouting, will receive an award of merit at a gathering in the scout den on Saturday night. Queen’s Scout award will be made to Jan-Owen Wright and John Stafford, and the commissioner for Pacific Islands scouting (Mr A. Reeve) will receive cheques from different scout groups to enable scouts to come from the Pacific to the jamboree in January. The St Matthew’s group has raised funds to enable three scouts to travel. Among those present at the ceremony will be Mr H... J. Walker, M.P., the area commissioner (Mr P. Henwood), the Akatea district committee chairman (Mr A. T. Dangerfield) and the Akatea district commissioner (Mr P. Brook).
