RACE IN S.A.
Skelton To Take Part (N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. New Zealand’* current leading jockey, R. J. Skelton, yesterday morning agreed to take part in a special international jockeys' invitation race in Natal. South Africa, on March 8 next year. Skelton wa« signed to appear in Natal by Mr A. Christie, secretary manager of the Natal City Jockey dub who attended the Napier Park races yesterday and Dr A. F. Taar, vicepresident of the club, for the expre** purpose of extending the invitation to Skelton. Skelton, who ha* been eight times leading jockey in New Zealand and has ridden 1050 winners during his career, said that he was delighted to be offered the trip. He said he had been approached to ride In Britain and also to ride Fairfleet in America but both propositions had fallen through.
