Woman Appointed A Circuit Steward
(From Our Own Reporter)
TIMARU, November 6.
A woman who has had a life-long association with the Woodlands Street Methodist Church has been appointed circuit steward.
It is the first time in the history of the church, or its predecessor, the Barnard Street Primitive Methodist Church—a period of 95 years —that a woman has been elevated to such a position. She is Mrs J. J. McNab, of Church Street west, Titnaru. Three women have been ordained in New Zealand, though only one is continuing with the work at present Mrs McNab attended Sunday School when she was four, and later became a Sunday School teacher.
She is particularly interested in the Woodlands Street Church library, is a committee member of the United Nations Association, the Glen-
wood Home, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mrs McNab trained as a nurse at the Timaru Hospital, serving as a sister of the medical ward and the chest block, as a tutor sister, and later as a district nurse.
