Moana Pool In Metres
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. The Moana swimming pool in Dunedin is a few inches over 50 metres long, according to the chairman of the City Council’s Water and Baths Committee, Cr B. K. Arnold.
He was commenting on a statement by New Zealand Olympic Games swimming manager, Mr R. Webb, who said 55 yards pools would have to be shortened. Cr Arnold said: “This development was foreseen in the design of the Moana pool, and it was built a few Inches longer than 50 metres.
“International competitions could be accommodated with a minimum of trouble, by putting in a false end, or making a similar arrangement."
