St Mary’s College Dominates Contest

Pupils of St Mary’s College dominated the D.T.C. dressmaking competition which was judged on Tuesday evening. Seventy-six of the original 700 entries were selected for final judging.

Entrants from St Mary’s College won all four sections of the competition, which is open to secondary schoolgirls. The winners of each section were awarded vouchers worth $25, with $l5 vouchers for second place and $7 vouchers for third place. Goods vouchers worth $5O were awarded to the town and country schools with the most entries in relation to the number of pupils attending dressmaking classes. These were won by St Mary’s College and Ashburton College.

The judges were Mrs H.

Cameron and Mrs M. Dowick, both homecraft teachers at the Christchurch Teachers' College. Awards were:—
