COURSE FOR CANOEISTS
A canoe course for leaders and instructors in youth organisations and canoe clubs will be held at Spencerville this week-end. It is aimed at promoting safety and skill. .
The. course, arranged by the Christchurch Canoe Club, will include instruction in safety rules, map and compass reading, watermanship, canoe practice, basic strokes, knots and splicing, resuscitation, weather sense, and the effects of tides and currents. Instructors for the course have been drawn from the Canoeing Association, the Army,' Navy, St John Ambulance, Lyttelton Harbour Board, and Meteorological Service, and the medical professlori.
