I.W. Dow Reorganises For Growth

A complete integration of production, servicing and marketing functions is the main purpose of a management reorganisation lately completed by Ivon Watkins-Dow, Limited, agricultural and industrial chemical manufacturers, New Plymouth.

Until now the corporate setup has been that of a parent company and subsidiaries forming a group of companies with more or less inter-related marketing policies for agricultural and industrial chemicals, application equipment, veterinary ethicals and animal health products and synthetic detergents. New Divisions The new concept is a flexible organisation of divisions with departments. Exports are handled by a newly formed department which markets overseas through United Chemicals, Ltd, originally set up as a manufacturing subsidiary. The company recently gained an export award after a successful year in overseas markets. Departmental Heads

Some names new to business appear among the division managers responsible to the managing director (Mr D. A. Watkins). They are: D. G. Brash, secretarial and fin-

ance division; B. D. Gundesen, works ’ division; P. S. Ferens, bio-products division; I. D. Beatson, industrial products division; J. T. Gribben, export and application services division; Dr G. W. Mason, research and development bio-products division; I. G. Turner, engineering and development division. Three New Areas

The three business areas are bio-products, industrial products, and export and application services. Bio-pro-ducts, a fresh name, embraces the former agricultural chemical sales, and includes animal health as well as agri-

cultural plastics. Industrial products;replaces general chemical sales.

Export and application services has overseas as well as domestic commitments, as a resident manager has been established in Singapore. Growth Planning

LW.D.'s growth planning is emphasised by the setting up of an engineering and development division responsible for the evaluation of new processes and chemical engineering functions. The strength of the company’s research potential is highlighted by the expansion of the research and development bio-products division: provision has been made for substantial facilities for research and product development.
