CONJUGAL VISITS
No Prison Moves
(N.Z.P.A..Reuter—Copyright) BLACKPOOL (England), October 3. Conjugal visits would not be granted-to married partners of inmates in Britain’s gaols until a stronger case for such visits was presented the Home Secretary (Mr James Callaghan) said in Blackpool last night. “We have no facilities, and I am not sure that the advocates of it have made a case out yet,” he said. Mr Callaghan was asked at a meeting of the Fabian Society —Britain’s oldest Socialist organisation—what measures were being taken to prevent prisoners’ homes from being broken up. He replied: “If you mean conjugal visits, I have no proposals put forward.”
