Candidacy Of Miss Howard
Sir, —I note that Miss Howard is a candidate for both the City Council and the Hospital Board. I have also noted that Miss Howard 'has recently spent a considerable time in hospital, is at present far from well, and has not been able to fulfil her Parliamentary duties. While regretting her ill health, can electors be assured that she will be able to take her seat, if elected, on either or both these bodies?—Yours, etc., INTERESTED. October 3, 1968. [The Labour Party’s mayoral candidate (Mr J Mathison, M.P.) replies “Under the Local Elections and Polls Act only a candidate can withdraw after nominations have closed.”]
