Oxford Club Excels At C.G.C. Show
A record number of entries—Bl2 from nine clubs were received by the North Canterbury Country Girls’ Club for its annual show at the Oxford Town Hall last Saturday. Two hundred attended the official opening by the association’s Dominion president (Miss Ruth Meddlicot, of Waimate). A make-and-model parade was one of the day's highlights. The winner was Mrs Jean Judson, of Oxford, who modelled a smart, miniskirted dress. Oxford club members had a successful day. The club was awarded Mrs G. Cottle’s Shield for the duib with the most points over all, Mrs O. Wells’s Trophy for the club with the most points in knitting and sewing, and Mrs Overton’s Tray for cooking.
They also won the Fernside Rose Bowl for the most points in the decorative section. Miss Carol Cross, of the Oxford C.G.C., won Mrs O. A. Wells’s Vase for the member with the most points over all, and Mrs Boag’s voucher, which is also awarded for the most points over all. Awards for entrants with the most points in the various sections were: Knitting, Mrs E. Graham (Sefton); needlework, Miss Diane Farquhar (Amuri); cooking, Mrs Janet Frazer (Ohoka and districts); decorative, and black and white colour photography Miss Carol Cross (Oxford).
