Boat Appeal Now $6489
The amount collected for buying a new lifeboat for Sumner is now S6 4, '9, the Christchurch Junior Chamber community services convener (Mr M. W. Burbery) said last evening. This included proceeds from the sale of 'stamps and numerous cash gifts made to the appeal. It was hoped that a rescue display at Sumner tomorrow afternoon would bring more donations, although there would be no admission charge, he said. The new boat will cost <>,ooo.
