Fire Threat To Radio
A scrub fire on the Port Hills near Cass Peak yesterday morning threatened the Civil Aviation Department’s V.H.F. radio installation on Cass Peak. The fire burned over three acres but no damage was caused. Firemen were first called to the fire at 9.48 a.m. One machine from Sydenham together with water tenders from the Paparua County Council and the Civil Aviation Department at Christchurch Airport were used to fight the fire. , Firemen left the area shortly before midday.
