CLAIM TO SABAH
Indonesian Hopes

Indonesian Foreign Minister (Mr Adam Malik) today expressed confidence that Malaysia and- the Philippines will peacefully settle their dispute over Sabah in a “spirit of conciliation." Mr Malik, addressing the General Assembly during its world affairs debate, said mutual respect,' good will and conciliation were needed to resolve the Sabah issue. “We are confident that this spirit of conciliation will prevail in the question of Sabah, thereby strengthening the development of peace in our region and, contributing to world stability as well," the Foreign Minister told the 125nation assembly. He pointed out that Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia had initiated the association of South-East Asian nations, Asean, with the aim of being of service to the world. He said this organisation hoped to overcome many obstacles.
