Ambulance Convention
About 270 members of the St John Ambulance Brigade attended a convention on emergency rescue techniques in Christchurch at the weekend, some from as far away as Nelson and Dunedin. The Assistant Commissioner of the Canterbury-West Coast brigade (Mr J. R. Begg) said yesterday that the convention was highly successful and attendance was greater than expected.
He said that doctors and specialists in various fields gave lectures on such subjects as emergency childbirth, modern warfare treatment, mine disaster rescue techniques, spinal and eye injuries, sports injuries, poisons treatment, burns and shock, and marine air rescue procedures. Mr Begg said this was the second convention organised by the brigade and another would probably be held in Christchurch next year.
