EXPORT BID
Parade In Commons (NZ.PA.-Heuter—Copyright) LONDON, Sept 11. It had to happen some day. After 700 years of the British Parliament, a fashion show was held at the stately House of Commons yesterday. Male models sauntered through the august halls at Westminster, to help the British export drive to woo American customers. Parliament’s first fashion show featured a men’s wear range designed for the American market by Gail Ansell, the only girl in Britain who designs full-time exclusively for men.
Miss Ansell, aged 24, is the chief designer for the firm of Cecil Gee which has produced the range for the Co-opera-tive Wholesale Society. A member of Parliament, Mr N. Haseldine, host at the reception held to launch the firm’s first men’s wear export collection, booked a room in the House of Commons for the show. Parliament is in recess at the moment
