MOUNT ISA MINES, LIMITED invites applications for the position of GEOLOGIST STRUCTURAL OR ENGINEERING at Mount Isa The position is in the Rock Mechanics Research Section of the Company’s Technical Services Organisation. Duties: To carry out long-term structural and geomechanical studies within the Mine. In particular to determine the geometrical and mechanical properties of discontinuities such as faults, joints and folds for the purpose of assessing their effect on in situ rock strength and to develop standard procedures for the gathering, processing and application of structural data to mine design. Qualifications: A post graduate degree in Structural Geology with two years practical experience preferred or alternatively an Honours Degree with at least four years experience. Whilst experience in general structural or engineering geology is essential training in the specific duties will be available to the successful applicant. Salary: An attractive salary will be offered commensurate with qualifications and experience. In addition a bonus of $832 per annum and a prosperity loading of $520 per annum will be paid.
