STUDENTS’ EXECUTIVE
Twelve nominations have been received for the seven ordinary seats on next year’s executive of the University of Canterbury Students’ Association. An election for the positions will be held on September 26.
Six of the nominees are present members of the newly-formed Students’ Representative Committee, and one (Miss E. Wily) is a member of the present executive. Those nominated are (S. R. C. members marked with an asterisk):— Messrs F. Baird, J. Chapple*, N. A. Finn, I. F. Harris*, M. Hawkins, C. Livesey, R. McConnel*, A. Van der Shaaf*, Misses S. Dawson*, M. Hobbs, B. Taylor*, and Wily. Five Seats Filled Of the si:: remaining seats, five have already been filled, as follows: Mr P. A. Grocott, as president; Mr G. Joyce, treasurer; Mr J. Tully, sports council president: Mr S. Carlaw, cultural council president; and Miss J. Bates, women’s vice-president An election will also he held for the position of men’s vice-president. Two nominations those of Messrs T. Beer and J. Tully—have been received. If Mr Tully is eleeied, he will have to resign as the sports council representative, which would require another member. Mr Tully is sports council member on the present executive.
