FROM TWO TO 105
Mr M. B. Hayes, returning officer for the local body elections in the Christchurch city, had on Wednesday received two nominations. Yesterday afternoon he had 105. The Citizens’ Association and the Labour Party both lodged all nominations for the mayoralty, City Council, and ad hoc bodies—and an independent, Mr W. J. D. H. McFaul, entered the list for the council. He has stood before and lost his deposit. This time he is undecided what he will campaign as, but thinks it will be “Christian Democrat.” Nominations will close at noon today, but Mr Haves thinks there may be a few more independents proposed.
