Durability Of Wool
Sir, —As one of the more fortunate passengers from the Wahine on her last tragic crossing, I have just received such articles from my personal effects as were capable of being salvaged. Needless to say, after some five months immersion in salt water there was very little of use in my small bundle of salvage. While fully appreciative of the efforts to return my belongings, I regret that practically everything was fit only for the rubbish tin. I had just completed a woollen jersey, and to my amazement this garment and a surplus skein remained in perfect condition. It has Seen said that "nothing replaces wool.” I am sure that many of your readers dependent on wool for a livelihood would be interested to learn that nothing was needed to replace this wool.—Yours, etc., WAHINE SURVIVOR.
