Combined Meeting
The Aranui Progress League has organised a joint meeting of Citizens’ Association and Labour Party candidates for local body elections. Twelve candidates for election have been allocated five minutes each for the meeting on September 23, when the retiring Mayor (Sir George Manning) will be chairman. The new mayoral candidates, Messrs A. R. Guthrey and J. Mathison, M.P.. will be given 15 minutes speaking time. The league organised a similar meeting before the 1965 elections, providing one of the few opportunities for the public to hear both sides on one evening.
