Deodorant, Toilet Lines Dearer

(By Our Grocery Reporter) Deodorants, cocktail onions and sandwich pastes are among grocery items that have increased in price this week. Several toilet lines are now dearer.

Mum rollettes have increased in price by 4c and refills by 3c. Mum sticks are 7c dearer. ■- Trig roll-on deodorant costs 4c more and the price of sticks has increased by 7c. Ban brand de-

odorants have also been increased by a similar margin.

Small tubes of Score hair dressing will now cost 3c more and the price of the large tubes is 6c higher. The price of Theraderm lotion has been increased by 10c. Ingram shaving creams in jars and tubes is 3c dearer. Poole’s cocktail onions now have a suggested retail price of 45c, an increase of 6d, and Linnell’s savoury sandwich pastes have been increased by Ic. St George brand grapefruit juice in both 13oz and 290 z cans is 2c dearer.

Custard Mix.—A new custard mix Is now being released in Christchurch under the name of Cerebos instant egg custard. It Is the first of its type produced in this country. Variations to the standard recipe are printed on the packet. The suggested retaM price is 23c.

New Sauces.—Cerebos Foods (N.Z.), Ltd, is releasing two new sauces In the South Island. They are steak sauce and spicy red sauce. The steak sauce has a tomato base integrated fruits and spices. The spicy red sauce also has a tomato base sauce with a blend of piquant spices. The suggested retail price for both varieties will be 30c.

Par-bulled Rice.—A par-boiled rice is now being placed on the local market. It Is not like the various "instant" types that are available. The rice has been pre-cooked and when it la prepared in the normal way the volume is Increased. This rice is also pre-cooked with the husks. Par-boiled rice costs about 1c a pound more than standard rice.

Kitchen Aids.—The distributors of Fresha products have two new products to aid dishwashing. The first is a sponge mop which has a polystyrene sponge fitted to a plastic handle. The second Is a flat sponge known as Wunda-Sponge The suggested retail price of the sponge mop is 29c. For the Wunda-Sponge the suggested retail price is 20c.
