A new 16-ton .goods vehicle offering four wheel-base lengths has been announced by Guy Motors, Ltd. It is an addition to the “Big J” range introduced four years ago. The vehicle is powered by the latest version of the Leyland 400 series of verticle six-cylinder diesel engines.

Rootes Motors, Ltd, has announced a new Dodge tractor model that will lead the 1969 range of heavy commercial vehicles. The new 28-ton vehicle will enter production in January. It will be fitted with the Perkins V 8 8.5 litre diesel engine which develops 185 b.h.p. at 2800 r.p.m. and 4251 b ft torque at 1600 r.p.m. The new model will have a five-speed gearbox with split axle, a loadsensing device to prevent jackknifing, and air brakes.

A new range of haulage, tipper and tractor chassis has been announced by Leyland. The range consists of two three-axle and three two-axle vehicles known as the Lynx and Bison models. All are powered by the 170 b.h.p. “500“ engine.
