NATIONAL TITLE
Templeton Selected
The New Zealand threequarter midget racing car championships have been allocated to the Christchurch Speedway Association by the Auto-cycle Union’s speedway control board and will be held at Templeton early next year. No firm date had yet been set but they would probably be held in either late January or February, the president of the association (Mr R Lang) said yesterday. The super modified class, commonly referred to as the stock rod class, had been officially recognised by the A.C.U. and there was a good chance that the national championships for this would be held at Templeton as well, he said.
The venue for the national solo championships had not yet been decided, Mr Lang said. No track had put in an application for them and the union had decided to call for fresh applications. Christchurch would not be applying at present as it had held them for the last two seasons. Auckland will be the venue for the speedcar and the motor-cycle sidecar championships. The stock car titles will be held at Stratford.
Racing will officially begin at Templeton on Saturday, November 9—a fortnight later than expected.
