Parliament’s Dian
Parliament spent part of yesterday afternoon discussing Ministerial replies to questions previously answered. Ministers also answered 11 questions.
No action was recommended on a petition in which Mrs D. L Dobson, of Fairlie, asked for Waitangi Day to be observed as a national holiday.
The Tauranga County Council Empowering Bill and the Tawa Borough Empowering Bill were introduced and read a first time. Members spent the afternoon debating the second reading of the Ministry of Natural Resources Bill, a private measure sponsored by Mr W. E. Rowling (Lab, Buller). No vote was taken.
During the evening, general legislation was proceeded with.
