Market Momentum Slows Down; Leaders Easy
New Zealand rises just outnumbered falls on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, but leaders were weaker, and because of the much easier overseas list, over-all the market was down. Trading was active over a wide range.
Movements were mainly narrow. T. J. Edmonds rights stood out with a gain of lie, to 105 c. They opened at 90c two weeks ago and traded daily at that price until last Wednesday, when they climbed to 94c. Since then no sales were reported until yesterday’s 105 c. Lane, Walker, Rudkin put on 1c to 155 c; the accounts were released yesterday. Wright, Stephenson rose 4c: in closing ex dividend sales of 140 c and some as high as 142 c. B. lost 185 c of Monday’s gain: the shares closed around 2050 c in Melbourne. C. on both registers was marked down to 590 c, a loss of 50c and 20c respectively.
