COMPLAINTS TO POLICE
Door-to-Door Salesmen (N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 8. The police have received complaints about door-to-door salesmen, said the Auckland crime prevention officer (Detective Sergeant A. G. Helleur). During the last few months there appeared to have been some increase in the activities of door-to-door salesmen, when they had called on private houses in the early evening, and in other cases quite late at night, he said. “A householder has no obligation to open his door late at night to any caller,” said Detective Sergeant Helleur. “In cases where the caller refuses to identify himself, or leave if asked to, a telephone call to the police will receive prompt attention."
