Beau Supreme To Go North

Mr C. A. Stanley, the Ashburton County Baclng Club's handicapper, has helped Mr R. C. Idlens, part-owner of Beau Supreme, to make a reluctant decision. If suitable arrangements can be made the horse will do his future racing in the North island. For a narrow win In a fivehorse open-class mile, worth SS6O to the winner, at the Otago Hunt meeting on Saturday. Mr Stanley rehandicapped Beau Supreme 51b for the Tinwald Handicap today. "The horse will not be starting at Ashburton," Mr Idlens told "The Press" yesterday. "If he is going to be penalised 51b for winning such a miserable stake there is not much point in keeping him racing down here. I intend to ring Brie Roplha at Woodville and see If he still wants to take him.” Roplha was keen to take Beau Supreme north with him after the Grand National meeting. The horse's trainer and other part-owner, J. C. McKerrow. who, Mr Idlens says, is just as displeased with Beau Supreme’s Ashburton rating, wanted the horse to go. But Mr Idlens, who has been a good supporter of South Island racing for many years and likes to see his horses run. would not agree at the time. But this latest development has caused him to change his mind, so the South Island win lose one of its most consistent open-class horses.
