NO Word From 10 New Zealanders
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 9. Ten New Zealanders last reported to be in Czechoslovakia have still not been found, according to the latest reports received by the External Affairs Department from the British Embassy in Prague.
"All others previously reported in Czechoslovakia are now known to be out of the country,” the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said tonight. The 10 missing are Mr and Mrs D. Fleming, Dr and Mrs J. G. Croll, Mr and Mrs Owen,
Mr and Mrs K. Hoy, and Mr and Mrs K. Turner. Asked if the Government intended to take further action to discover the whereabouts of the five couples, Mr Holyoake replied: “I have taken no more action. One has got to presume that they would know the procedure to go through if they required any assistance.” Nothing had been heard from three New Zealanders known to have been in Iran at the time of the devastating earthquakes, Mr Holyoake said. They fere a -girl in a tourist party, and a couple travelling through Iran in their own car. No names were given. Mr Holyoake said it was presumed the three persons were so far away from the earthquake localities that they had not thought of sending assurances home.
