Victoria Bid Withdrawal
fN Z Fresi 4, an.—Copyright! MELBOURNE, September 7. New Zealand Insurance Company, Ltd, will shortly be in control of at least 40 per cent of Victoria Insurance Company, Ltd, after Amev of Australia, Pty, Ltd’s announcement that it was withdrawing its offer for Victoria Insurance, The Amev directors gave their reason for the withdrawal as a purchase of a large proportion of Victoria Insurance's issued capital by New Zealand Insurance and other interests over the last month. Amev has now decided to accept New Zealand Insurance’s offer for Amev holdings. Amev had previously announced that it had acquired 15 per cent of Victoria insur-ance-end New Zealand’s last statement gave its holding as more than 25. per cent (which with “friends” gave it control).
