Southland Co. Joins Taylor’s Drycleaning
The Society Drycleaners, Ltd, Invercargill, the largest dry cleaning and laundry group in Southland, has joined the Taylor’s Drycleaning and Laundry Services, Ltd, group of companies, Christchurch.
The arrangement involves an exchange of shares. The directors of Taylor’s say m a statement that the move will add considerably to the company’s present operations, which are confined to the South Island.
No changes are intended in the Invercargill company, which will continue to trade under its present name, and with existing staffThe managing director (Mr R. p. Hoggans) will continue as such, and will also be-
come southern regional director of the group. Unlisted Company Taylor's is at present an unlisted company, but intends in the next three ' to five years to make an Issue to the public, and at the same time seek stock-ex-change listing. The Invereargill company began In its present form in 1947, when Mr Hoggans purchased an old family laundry business with a staff of 12. In 1956, the business was merged with Society Drycleaners. The group now has a staff of more than 50.
