Senior Squash In The Balance
Two teams, University and Christchurch 11, have excellent chances of winning the division I squash rackets championship when the last matches are played at the Chester Street courts this evening. University has 47 points and Christchurch II has 45. The other three teams are well out of the running; Officers and Christchurch I having 30 points and Collegiate 28. This evening University will play Christchurch I and Christchurch II will meet Officers. Weakened Team In its two previous meetings University had decisive wins over Christchurch I but its team is not nearly as strong as formerly, having lost both J. F. Henderson and R. M. Garrett. Whether its team of J. St J. Parson, C. C. Kissling, N. Rush and A. Naughton can defeat Christchurch I (B. V. Hamilton, L. G. Milne, G. Hargreaves and N. W. Herd) is hard to predict but it is very doubtful whether University will gain more than two wins which could possibly gain it six points. Officers may well reverse their previous two narrow losses to Christchurch 11. They will face a determined team from Christchurch II (S. Suckling, R. D. Monk, T. L. Williams and R. Taylor). Christchurch II will have to win at least three matches to have a chance of winning the competition and with D. J. Triggs an almost certain winner for Officers, the result
Nomination.—The Poverty Bay Rugby Union has nominated Mr T. C. Morrison for life membership of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr Morrison, the N.Z.R.F.U. chairman, will retire from administration next year.
will depend on the performances of the lower-order players.
