Discussion On Services The ordination of women, the experimental use of revised orders of service for matins and evensong, and the proposed outline for church government will be included in discussions at the thirtyseventh synod of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch, to be held in the Horticultural Hall from October 7 to 10. Discussion would also be held on persons who could participate in Anglican services of Holy Communion, the diocesan registrar (Mr J. C Cottrell) said yesterday. A motion would be introduced to set up a new mission district in Bishopdale-Harewood, and the synod would also be asked to support the 1969 community programme “Interview ’69" sponsored by the National Council of Churches and the Roman Catholic Church. More than 200 persons, including clergy and laity, will attend the synod, which will be opened at 2.15 p.m. on October 7, when the president, the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rev. W. A. Pyatt) will deliver his address. Synod Service The vicar of Fendalton (the Rev. R. A. Lowe) will preach at the annual synod service to be held in Christchurch Cathedral at 7.30 p.m. that evening This year, the service will take the form of parish evensong, and instead of taking part in a procession, the clergy will sit with members of their own parish. Separate conferences for clergy and laity will be held the next morning, after a service of Holy Communion held in St Mary’s Church, Merivale, at 9.30 a.m. The clerical conference will be held in St Paul’s parish hall, Papauni. The laity will meet in the St Mary’s hall. The synod will continue in the "Horticultural Hall until Thursday evening. Services of Holy Communion will be held on the Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 7.30 a.m. in Christchurch Cathedral, after matins at 7.15 a.m All members of synod will be invited to attend a meeting of the Divine Healing Fellowship, to be held in the board room of Church House at 10 a.m. on October 11.

Mr T. N. Bright, new manager of the Hereford Street branch of the Australia and New Zealand Bank, was welcomed to a meeting of the North Canterbury Agricultural Advisory Committee yesterday. He was representing the New Zealand Bankers' Association pending the appointment of a replacement for Mr R. A. McKinnon, who has retired.
