Shoulder Flash All ranks at the Koyal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram are beginning to wear a “Royal New Zealand Air Force” flash on their shoulders. In the past the flashes were worn only by servicemen going overseas. Now Air Force Headquarters has issued a directive that the wearing of the flash will be compulsory from April 1, 1969. This has resulted from greater participation by New Zealand in joint exercises and training schemes with the forces of other nations. University Halls The University Grants Committee has prepared a space schedule for halls of residence to guide organisations which may apply for Government subsidies. The basis is 250 sq. ft gross for each student with single study-bed-rooms of 100 sq. ft net although some double rooms of 160 sq. ft net may be approved. Lounges are preferred to large common-rooms and it is suggested that diningrooms cater for two or three sittings. The last two points are made on the argument that limited use of large areas does not justify the cost.
