Ambulances Busy

\hi bu lances carried 81 more patients last month than they did in August last year, but 227 fewer than in Julv. according to the secretarytreasurer of the Christchurch sub-centre of the St John Ambulance Association (Mr G. A. Brown). Last month’s figure was 2501. Fewer motor accident victims were carried than in August, 1967, or in July. Last month ambulances carried 72 motor accident victims, compared with 96 in July, and 131 in August, 1967. The association attended 54 motor accidents last month, 96 in July and 79 the previous August. The sub-centre’s ambulances travelled 12,658 miles, compared with 12,222 in the same month last year and 14,015 in July this year. Eighty miscellaneous accidents were attended, eight more than in August last year and 12 more than in July this year.
