Musical Clinic

A musical clinic for musicians and other interested persons was held at the last evening by Mr Russ Garcia, a leading American musician.

The clinic was arranged by the Christchurch Musicians’ Club and Mr Garcia demonstrated with 17-piece or)chestra of local musicians. , Mr Garcia, who has composed background music for more than 100 Hollywood films, has been brought to New Zealand by the Music Trades Association of New Zealand as part of its national education programme. He is well known to television viewers through his music for productions such as “Rawhide,” "Petticoat Junction," “The Wild, Wild West,” and “The Virginian.” Mr Garcia is a staff composer of N.8.C., Hollywood, and is also in charge of artists and repertoire for Verve records. He is known for his modern classical compositions as well as jazz and has had several symphonic and chamber works performed both in the United States and Europe.
