Buyers Again Dominate Active Market

Trading was again active on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterda j’ x- Vei a w 'd e ran S e °f issues. Buyers continue to dominate the market, and New Zealand shares had two rises for every fall. The overseas list was easy.

Leaders were very firm, but three moved against the trend: Dominion Breweries and Fletcher Holdings lost 1c each, to 183 c and 197 c respectively, and New Zealand Refining took off 2c to 583 c. Meat shares stood out C.F.M. rose 2c, to 152 c, New Zealand Refrigerating gained Ic, to 120 c, S.F.M. also rose Ic, to 190 c, Waitaki sold 3c higher at 188 c, and Gear put on 2c, to 147 c. N.Z. Forest rose another 9c, to 380 c, and South British was the only insurance to change its price, putting on 5c to 500 c.

B.H.P. lost 35c, to 2290 c, and Mount Isa lost 15c in spite of a company announcement that the dividend was doubled. Rio Tinto Zinc rose 95c to 1795 c
