Calls On Inspector
The Inspector of the Canterbury Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Mr H. J. Hammett) is called to all sorts of cases, according to the society’s newsletter. One recent call involved an attempt to rescue three sheep which had fallen over cliffs at Scarborough. Another came urgently from a woman who reported that her cat was very ill and she had no transport to take “him” to a veterinarian. Mr Hammett found that the “illness” was a simple matter of “him” having kittens.
