Toast On Canvas

Sir Robert Menzies, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and Constable of Dover Castle, was toasted by the Deputy Constable (Brigadier John Badcock) and 10 former deputy constables at a dinner party in the Henry V. Constable’s tower within Dover Castle recently. Now the moment of raised glasses is being recaptured by the artist, Dennis Ramsay, and the painting will eventually be presented to Sir Robert Menzies, probably when he visits Britain next summer.

Ramsay, a pupil of Annigoni, is known for his portrait of Princess Alexandra. He recently completed a posthumous portrait of Sir Winston Churchill. He is a friend of Sir Robert Menzies and has done a number of portraits of him.
