CHINA-CLAY INDUSTRY

<N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 2. The Government had given authority for the first stage of a new china-clay processing industry at Kerikeri, Northland, a spokesman for Crown Lynn Potteries, Ltd, a cosponsor, said today. Permission was subject to the usual conditions about price and quality. The price of the processed clay must not exceed that of imported clay, and the quality must be at least as good. The next move, said the spokesman, was to plan roading, and mine-siting, for processing the clay deposits—estimated at more than 20 million tons of high-grade crude clay.
