WHANGAREI, Sept. 1. The 35ft Russell fishing boat Corinthic sank about a quarter of a mile off Tapeka Point late on Thursday. The two men aboard, the ownerskipper, Mr Larry Nilsen, and Mr John Brittenden, aged 27, formerly of Christchurch, swam ashore.

The boat hit a submerged rock about 10.30 p.m. Four minutes later it had sunk. Mr Nilsen was flung against the cabin and is believed to have suffered a minor chest injury.
