OTAGO WINS CHESS
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The telegraphic chess competition between Auckland and Otago for the Bledisloe Cup ended in a win for Otago by one point. The series, played on 15 boards, began at 1 p.m. The deadline for matches on all boards was 11 p.m. on Saturday but a few minutes before this time both centres had 6} points, with two games to be completed. Just on 11 p.m. the Auckland centre conceded one game, and the other game finished in a draw. This gave Otago an extra If points compared with Auckland’s half point.
