HULME FIRST

Can-Am Event

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ELKHART LAKE (Wisconsin).

D. Hulme (New Zealand), battling rain at the start and a faltering engine in the final laps, easily won the 200mile opening race in the sixrace Can-Am Cup series. Hulihe’s team-mate, B. McLaren (New Zealand), was second. Last year McLaren won the series after a loss to Hulme in the event here. Hulme and McLaren both drove McLaren-designed cars, as did the United States road racing champion, M. Donohue, who was third, and P. Revson (New York), who was fourth.

Nearing End.—F Rumsey, the Somerset and England left-arm fast-medium bowler has indicated that he may retire from first-class cricket after this season.
