Maori Squad Chosen

The Canterbury’ Maori Rugby League advisory board, formed earlier this season to promote and improve the standard of Maori league in Canterbury, will make every effort to become the first holder of the Pomare Challenge Trophy when it meets the Pakeha XIII at the Show Grounds on September 15. The assistant coach of the Maori team (Mr P. H. Nepia) said yesterday that players who did not attend training sessions would not be considered for selection. Previous Maori-Pakeha games had been spoilt by numerous withdrawals, country venues, and a general lack of interest.
