FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—A deep depression near Campbell Island is moving east. An anticyclone covers the north Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury.—South-westerlies, probably fresh for a time about the coasts this morning ; winds otherwise moderate .and variable; showery in the Alps, variable skies with a few showers elsewhere: rather cold. Buller and Westland.—Moderate westerlies; cloudy and rather cold, with showers. Marlborough and Nelson. —North-wester-lies, fresh at first about Cook Strait, otherwise moderate variable winds; variable skies, with a few showers; cool. Outlook.— Changeable west or south-west weather.
