GORE. The leading steeplechase rider and trainer. W. J. Hillis, suffered a severe fall when his mount. Bush Creek, came down heavily at the second last fence !n the main steeplechase event at the Eastern Southland Hunt Club’s annual meeting on Satur*He was taken to the Gore Hospital, but a later report stated hi® injuries were not serious. Bush Creek, a popular favourite was ip the lead at the time of his fall. A casualty in the Kennels Hurdles Handicap was Stiver Prince, one of the favoured runners. Silver Prince was seen to be in difficulties after jumping the last fence and was pulled up. Later it was found he had dislocated his near front fetlock joint and he was destroyed. ASHBURTON RACING CLUB ACCEPTANCES ACCEPTANCES for the first day of the club’s Spring Meeting, to be held on Tuesday, September 10, will close with the Secretary, Ashburton, not later than 3 p.m. on Monday.
