In a match not marked for its brilliance, the North Otago Rugby team beat South Canterbury, at oamaru 4 14-3, after leading 6-0 at half-time, the Press Association reports. Tries for North Otago were scored by R. McKenzie. D. Hurst, P. Ford and E. Baird.
, R. Vercoe scored a try for South Canterbury. Other Matches Hawke’s Bay scored a 9-6 win over Manawatu in a tight, nonshield match at Palmerston North. Scorers: for Hawke’s Bay, P. Carney three penalty goals; for Manawatu. R. Burgess two penalty goals. Waikato beat Counties. 15-3. at Hamilton. Scorers: For Waikato, I. K. Begbie a try, R. Deacon and D. Pinfold dropped goals, Pinfol4 and A. Bell penalties; for Counties, a penalty by R. Lendrum.
Wellington B beat Golden Bay* Motuqka 28-3 at Motueka. For Wellington tries were scored by M. Cull, R. Steele. R. Cleland, A. Adams, and J. Brown (2). D. Heather kicked two dropped goals and Adams and N. Cleland kicked conversions. For the home side, M. Win kicked a dropped goal. Bush beat Horowhenua. 9-6, at Woodville.
Hockey Win.—Auckland retained the Keith Falconer Memorial Cup when it drew with Wellington 1-1, in a men’s hockey match on Saturday.
