RANGIORA COUNTY

Capital Value Up $5.793m

The capital value of Rangiora county has increased from $14,879 million to $20,672 million in the last five years. The unimproved value in the same period has risen from $6,586 million to $10,049 million and the value of improvements from $8,293 to $10,622 million. These figures were released by the Christchurch manager of the Valuation Department (Mr V. R. Aitken), who said that valuations for individual properties would be sent out in the next week. The valuation was completed by the Rural District Valuer (Mr J. D. Gregan). He said the increase in the capital value was a reflection of the rise in market values and the increased development over the last five years. There had been greater sales activity than in the more outlying counties and the influence of the growing importance of Rangiora town was shown in the demand for small holdings within easy reach of the borough. The greatest development had occurred in the Cust area where improved farming techniques had led to increased production. Valuations for Temuka borough will also be posted in the next week.

The capital value of the borough is now $6,315 million as against $5,708 million, the unimproved value $973,230 ($686,770) and value of improvements $5,432 million ($5,021 million).
