The recent fusion of Botany and Zoology Departments in the University has been made in an endeavour to facilitate the teaching of biology at all levels of the B.Sc. degree, and the successful applicant will be responsible for developing and strengthening experimental zoology teaching and research in this context. Current research interests of the Department lie particularly in the fields of quantitative and physiological animal and plant ecology, animal behaviour and the physiology of plant growth and development. The appointment will be for one year and will carry an emolument of SUM. The Director-General of Education has advised that the successful applicant may also be granted full salary during the period of the Fellowship. The Fellow would be expected to report to the University by the beginning of February, 1969, and remain a member of the University Staff until the close of the School year. He would have some teaching duties with Stage I classes and would be encouraged to associate with research. He would be free to attend University courses by agreement with the Head of the Physics Department.
